While in New York he was selected to participate in the ASCAP and BMI Musical theatre workshops and his musical on the life of poet Edgar Allan Poe was given a staged reading by the Soho Repertory Theater.

During his time in New York City he also worked as a commodity broker in the World Trade Center.

“Those years in the trading pits really gave me a lot of insight into human nature, which has helped me tremendously in the music business, especially in regard to “the bizness” side of music.”

After relocating to Stockholm, Sweden in July 1992 he was signed to MCA music publishing (currently Universal Music Publishing) from 1993- 2001. He then signed an exclusive publishing deal with Multiplay Music Ltd. from 2002- 2005. During his years in Sweden Brian has had songs recorded by some of the top artists in Sweden, including Björn Skifs, Jill Johnson, Nils Landgren, Janne Schaffer, Stefan Gunnarsson, Lena Phillipsson, Excellence (Melody festival 2002), Style (Melody festival 2003), Magnus Bäckman, Mia Löfgren, Johan Becker, Lotta Engberg, Monica Silverstrand, Andreas Aleman, Anders Johansson, Stefan Gunnarsson, Andreas Aleman, Joseph Williams and Friends. Brian’s songs have also been recorded by artists in Norway, Australia, Finland, China, US, UK, Belgium, Spain, Iceland, Philippines, Japan, South Africa, and Denmark.

Brian has recorded 4 solo albums; Music for Balancing Body & Mind, Impressions of the Outer Banks, Candle in the Window and Second Glances. He has also completed Love Remembered with the Albert-Hobbs Big Band. You can listen to these under the ARTIST page and at the Eidolon STORE.

In addition to writing songs and producing music Brian is also working on writing prose (he had his first short story published in 2009) and is finishing up an original musical about newspaper editor, W. O. Saunders and his newspaper, The Independent, who was active in Brian’s hometown, Elizabeth City, NC  from 1908 to around 1937.

“It’s a fantastic story and I think he is one of the most interesting characters I’ve come across. He was fearless in taking on issues that can still ruffle quite a few feathers. I’ve just finished the first draft and am hoping to record the full score later this year.”

Brian is currently co-writing with Andreas Aleman, Leif Larson, Marcus Sjöberg and others.
